I'm obsessed with zombies. A.d.d.i.c.t.e.d. Some might say I need to go to Z.A....Zombies Anonymous. But I'm not so anonymous with my love of zombies. Anyone who knows me even a little, knows I'm totally addicted. I even asked for a machete for christmas that I will be framing with "in case of zombie apocalypse, break glass." And as I decided that I wanted to make a top ten zombie movie list, I had to think hard and realized what really jump started my love of zombies. Yes, I saw all of the "of the deads" when I was young. I watched them with my brother. And I will say that George A. Romero is a hero of mine and a genius in those giant, black, coke bottle glasses of his. But what was really the kicker was Resident Evil. It was THE first zombie move I saw in the theater, with my brother. I had no idea what it was even about, I was just excited to go to the mall and see a movie. I didn't know it was about zombies. I had never seen any previews for it. It was just like seeing Avatar- completely in the dark. But, I was hooked from the beginning. It opened my eyes to new and modern zombies and I couldn't get enough. When it came out on VIDEO, I made my mom rent it. I think I watched it everyday until we had to return it. Later I made her buy it and I swear I watched it everyday that summer.
So maybe I was a little obsessed... What can I say? I've never really been a normal kid. Now, here I am on the brink of being 25, and even more obsessed. I read all the zombies books, see all the movies, have The Walking Dead themed dinner Sunday nights, and plan for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
For my love of zombies, I'm creating a "Sunday, Zombie, Sunday" segment to this blog. This is just a small taste of my addiction. I am currently watching zombie movies in my free time and will be coming up with a top ten, just because I can.
Until then.........
Shoot them in the head.
